The compound has been used in research studying the Ras/Raf-1/ERK pathway in human airway epithelial cells A549 and has demonstrated the ability to inhibit PMA-mediated activation of ERK1/2. In the presence of GW 5074, YC-1 induced p44/42 MAPK activation is weakened in A549 cells. GW 5074 has been shown to block low potassium (LK) induced cell death and prevent neurodegeneration。
