Eprodisate competitively binds to the glycosaminoglycan binding sites on serum amyloid A (SAA), which inhibits the formation of the glycosaminoglycan-amyloid fibril aggregate, which prevents the formation of amyloid deposits in certain organs, especially the kidneys, in AA amyloidosis.
