PKD1, the most studied member of the PKD family, is implicated in the regulation of a remarkable array of fundamental biological processes, including signal transduction, cell proliferation and differentiation, membrane trafficking, hormone secretion, immune regulation, cardiac hypertrophy, angiogenesis, and cancer.
